Nothing takes the shine off a surprise like a ring that will not go past the knuckle. Measuring at home is easy if you know the three things that make people get it wrong.
Method one: a ring you already own
Take a ring that fits the intended finger comfortably, lay it on a ruler and measure the inside diameter in millimetres. Match it against our ring size chart — a 16.5 mm inside diameter is an Indian size 12, for example. This is the most accurate home method because it measures a fit you already trust.
Method two: a strip of paper
Cut a strip of paper about 5 mm wide, wrap it snugly around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps and measure the length. That length is the circumference; the chart converts it to a size. Snug, not tight: the strip should slide over the knuckle with a little resistance.
Tip: Measure at the end of the day, at room temperature. Fingers are smallest first thing in the morning and in the cold, and a size taken then will be tight by evening.
Method three: come and see us
Any Trimaani showroom will size you with a proper ring gauge in a minute. If the ring is a surprise, bring one of theirs — or a photograph of their hand next to something of known size, and we will get close enough to resize later.
Wide bands, knuckles and resizing
A band wider than 6 mm needs to go up half a size. If the knuckle is noticeably larger than the base of the finger, size for the knuckle and we can add small beads inside the shank so it does not spin. And if it still is not right, resizing within 15 days is complimentary on every Trimaani ring.
