Fine jewellery is made to be worn every day — but every day leaves lotion, sweat and dust behind. Ten minutes a month keeps a piece looking the way it did in the box.
Gold and diamonds
Soak the piece in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap for ten minutes, brush gently with a soft toothbrush — especially behind the stones, where oils collect and dull the sparkle — rinse, and pat dry with a lint-free cloth. That is all most pieces ever need.
Tip: Put the plug in the basin before you rinse. More diamonds are lost to drains than to bad settings.
Sterling silver

Silver tarnishes when it meets sulphur in the air, which is why a piece left in a drawer darkens while one worn daily stays bright. Polish with a silver cloth, never with toothpaste or abrasives, and store each piece in its own pouch or a zip bag with an anti-tarnish strip.
Last on, first off
Put jewellery on after perfume, hairspray and sunscreen, and take it off before swimming, cleaning and the gym. Chlorine pits gold alloys, and a barbell will bend a prong faster than years of ordinary wear.
- Perfume and lotion first, jewellery last
- Off before pools, cleaning and workouts
- Store pieces separately so diamonds cannot scratch gold
- Check prongs every few months by running a fingernail over them
When to bring it in
Once a year, or whenever a stone feels even slightly loose, bring your piece to any Trimaani showroom. Complimentary cleaning and inspection is part of our lifetime care — we will tighten prongs, re-polish, and re-plate white gold if it needs it.
Jewellery that is checked once a year is jewellery that lasts a lifetime.
